GAGI Olive Oil Industry

Calabrian Olive Oil Since 1909

Among the First Organic Producers in Italy

The company’s ongoing focus on innovation, aimed at offering clients only the best, has always been a part of its tradition. Our commitment to the highest quality production techniques has made us one of the first organic olive oil producers in Italy.

A Unique Supply Chain

Once transported from our fields to the mill, the olives are weighed and stored. The raw material is defoliated, washed, and distributed into the production system. With a daily capacity of 60,000 kg of olives, we are able to complete the production process in less than 24 hours, ensuring maximum quality without defects.

Sustainable Production

We firmly believe in respecting the land and use sustainable production techniques powered by low environmental impact energy sources.
For example, our photovoltaic panel system allows us to reduce CO₂ emissions by nearly 40 tons annually.

We produce extremely high-quality olive oil thanks to the careful management of each processing stage and the use of numerous local cultivars. These include: Large Olive of Cassano (Grossa di Cassano); Carolea (Carolea); Little Round Olive (Tondina); Etna Olive (Nocellara Etnea); Messina Olive (Nocellara Messinese).
These varieties provide different sensory characteristics throughout the year and deliver the bold, authentic Calabrian flavor, with unmistakable aromas and fragrances at the table.
Quality control starts with care for the plants and continues throughout the supply chain—from harvest to incoming fruit inspection to final laboratory analysis.

GAGI OLEARIA

Gabro dal 1909 is the brand of GAGI Olearia, which has specialized in the production of Calabrian extra virgin olive oil since 1909. The company was founded in the municipality of Cassano allo Ionio, in the fertile Piana di Sibari, with a small olive mill. Over time, several hectares of olive groves were added, reaching today’s size of 220 hectares cultivated with some of the region’s most typical olive varieties.

Today, the company is managed by the fourth generation of the family: sisters Giovanna and Gabriella Brogna, who continue to uphold the company’s founding philosophy—respect for the land, sustainability, and a pursuit of quality.

The Tradition of Innovation Always Aiming for the Highest Quality

In 1988,

Gabro olive oil was awarded the title of Best Organic Olive Oil in Italy by the University of Milan and the Experimental Station for Oils and Fats, in recognition of its excellence in organic farming.

Our Goal

Reduce CO2 Emissions

Olive farming is by nature beneficial to the environment. Olive trees absorb large quantities of CO₂ from the atmosphere, store it in the soil, and help combat global warming.
But for us, that’s not enough. In 2006, we installed a system of photovoltaic panels on the roofs of our buildings, capable of producing up to 200 kW/h. This system enables us to reduce CO₂ emissions by nearly 40 tons.
We produce hot water and heat our work areas through a combustion system that uses olive pit biomass (nocciolino di sansa), which comes from the olive pits. This approach helps us achieve two goals: reducing the use of petroleum and gas and giving value to the byproducts of the olive oil production chain.
We have also joined the Alberami srl protocol—a company involved in carbon farming—to be actively engaged in climate change mitigation by offsetting CO₂ emissions.
